Samer,
aged 37, first came to House of Hope in October, 2006 as his parents are elderly
and are unable to care for him at their Bethlehem home.
Being one of seven children, he has 3 brothers and 3 sisters, some of
whom are overseas. His oldest
brother is a Pediatrician in Canada.
One of his sisters passed away last year. During
the day time, Samer goes to a workshop called Oasis in Beit Sahour where various
tasks are undertaken making candles and cards from recycled paper. Samer
keeps generally well, although he has to take medication to control his mood,
and he also is only partially sighted.
Samer's mind is just like a child and he is fairly quiet and generally
contented. Samer's
favorite time is when he is given a present and when he gets a watch to play
with – that makes him happy and he also enjoys listening to his tapes on his
tape recorder. |
