Jospeh Workshop Manager Jospeh (Abu Issa) has lived in the House of Hope his entire life. He has been invaluable to our ministry and God has used him mightily to teach and to create. Born almost entirely blind, Joseph was brought by his parents
at age ten to Aunty May, who raised him.
In 1984, Joseph started to work full time at the House of Hope. He helped
to set up our first workshop, where workers spent days making rugs and carpets
on looms. Today the workshop functions as a broom and brush factory and employs
several local blind and partially-sighted men.
The furniture Joseph himself makes is often more beautiful than store-bought items. We know God is pleased to see Joseph using his talents for His glory. Please pray for Joseph. He lost his sight entirely a few years ago. He still works as our shop manager, does many maintenance jobs and creates beautiful items through his carpentry. Not allowing his disability to invoke self-pity or depression, Joseph is a joyful man who sings at his work and can fix anything! |
