Issa is 26 years old but still resides here at the House of Hope.  He has always been extremely well-behaved and has adjusted well since his arrival at age 12.  The situation in Issa’s home is complicated and life is difficult—it has been in his best interest to remain here and we are happy to have him.  Sami has been like a father to Issa for years, and the other men treat him as a brother.

 Issa’s family lives in a village between Hebron and Bethlehem.  His parents do not have work and his dad is very ill.  A stroke claimed his hearing and caused brain damage and recently he fell and injured his head and right hand.  Some of Issa’s siblings are able to find work from time to time, but there is no stable income for the large family.  All live together in one large room and all survive in great poverty.

Issa is very bright.  He attends training at a center in Beit Sahour where he learns to carve olive wood, a valuable trade in the Bethlehem area.  He loves to ride bikes, listen to tapes, sing worship songs to God and help others.  Issa is always helping anyone he sees in need.  No one asks, he just gets up and does what is needed, as he would want someone to do for him. 

Please pray for Issa’s family—they’re in a terrible situation as there are many members and no work to support them.  Pray for his father’s poor health and for his family’s trust and hope to come from Jesus Christ.  He is the only light that can shine in such darkness.  Also, Issa’s muscles often spasm (usually the tick is brought on by a situation) and this obviously can cause problems or accidents.  We don’t understand it, but we do know that our Lord has everything under His control and is faithful to heal and protect.
