Name: Hiba
Birthdate: October 25, 1998
Hiba is eight years old, but acts much older—she is a leader among the girls.
In her town of
The middle child in a family of 11, Hiba's family tells us her development has
been stunted because of a phobia—she functioned normally until some Israeli
soldiers occupied her town. Fear of
the soldiers plagued Hiba every day and the base they lived on could be seen
from the family's kitchen window.
Whenever the soldiers wanted tea, sugar or other items, they would come to
Hiba's home and take what they wanted.
One night, in fear of the men downstairs, Hiba fell out of bed and hit
her head. Her family accredits
Hiba's disabilities to this incident, but we can not know for sure what
happened.
Hiba is very intelligent. She loves to converse and loves to hug. She learns
quickly and looks out for the other girls.
(She also convinces the other girls to get into trouble with her and to
be sneaky.) Hiba colors, builds
Lego structures and loves to play tag. Because
her hearing is not good, Hiba rarely sings with the other children at evening
devotions. We hope to see her hearing tested soon and for something to be done
so that she can learn even more quickly.
Please pray that Hiba would lead the girls to follow Jesus and to do good
things (not sneaky things!) She understands so much and is a shining light. Pray
for her hearing to improve, her heart and mouth to sing, and for her Muslim
family to find safety in the arms of Christ.
