Name: Eyad

Birthday: January 31, 1994

Eyad's big hugs and toothy smile aren’t what most would expect from a little boy who has been through so much, but his love for Christ and for others can't be hidden.

From Hebron, Eyad is one of six children living with their busy parents in a refugee camp.  Both parents work for the government and are not able to care for Eyad, who is disabled and epileptic.  Eyad's mother has no time for him as she is also studying in a local university and the family blames her for having him (as the extended family has rejected Eyad).  There have been times that Eyad's epilepsy went untreated, simply because his mother didn’t give him his medicine—she has had a difficult time accepting that he needs it.

Eyad is always the last student to be picked up for holidays at home.  He often cries and cries as the other children leave one by one.  It is sad to see him so neglected by his family, but God has provided him with a close spiritual family here at HOH.  Eyad loves to give hugs, play in the sand, watch movies (more than any of the other children combined), Tom and Jerry, riding bikes and taking walks.  He is happy while he is here.

Please pray for Eyad.  His epilepsy is managed now that he takes medicine, which is a blessing.  His emotional condition is also managed by Christ's love, but please pray that the same love will change the hearts of Eyad's family members.  Eyad is fearful of shooting noises and similar sounds at night and would previously not sleep without an "aunty" with him.  God has been faithful to heal this area and he can sleep alone now, but please remember him in your prayers as he still has some fear.  Eyad has proven God's ability to make a bad situation beautiful and we praise God for his spirit.
