Name: Baraa

Birthdate: January 26, 1997

Baraa is ten years old and is a new addition to our Home, having arrived in October of 2006.  From Hebron, Baraa's family of six has been plagued with medical trouble-her twin sister, Aya, is also disabled and the new baby (six months) recently had open-heart surgery.

Baraa can quote Scripture (performing perfectly her part in the Christmas play--"Glory to God and on earth, peace, good will towards men.") and does understand much about Christ.  She loves our devotion time every evening because of the stories about Jesus.

Unfortunately, Baraa has trouble paying attention during everyday activities and doesn’t use the caution that comes naturally for most people.  Even after hitting her head or falling several times, Baraa seems to have no short-term memory and will repeat the same painful act.  It's difficult to watch Baraa fall to the ground hard several times on a daily basis, but she normally gives a stunned smile and stands back up.  We assume she has cerebral palsy because of complications at birth.  She and her sister were both premature and no doctor was called to aid the ill babies.

Although walking is not easy for Baraa's legs, she loves to take walks with her house parents and see the city.  She loves to clap and make noise, but speaks very softly with a sweet smile.  Please pray for Baraa's safety, for strength in her legs and for God's angels to lift her up every time she falls.  Please pray against discouragement—we hope Baraa will continue to smile and be a light to her Muslim brothers and sisters.
