Up Joseph Abu Khalil Issam Aziz Issa Mohamed

Hassan Saad, more commonly known as Abu Khalil(which means father of Khalil), works in our store that sells the products of the workshop to the local community.

Until the age of 13 Hassan attended sighted school when he was hit on the face and lost his sight.  Unable to afford to have an operation abroad, he went to high school for the blind in Ramallah where he learned Braille.  After this he went to Syria where he completed a diploma in Industry work, special education, and sociology.  After he came back in 1965 he met Aunty May where he started the workshop and worked to improve his English and Braille skills. In 1990 the store opened at House of Hope and he has worked there ever since.  In previous years, he also held a job in a factory in Beit Jala, and in Jordan at the Friendship Centre for the Blind.

Abu Khalil has 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters.  All of his children are married except for his youngest son.

Abu Khalil still has many dreams and ambitions. He would love to learn English better and hopes to travel abroad to Europe or America to learn English and study the Bible.  He would love to correspond with people abroad, especially if they can help him travel overseas.

Abu Khalil encourages us with his love for life, learning and his work.  About the all the people at House of Hope he said "I love everyone and they all love me".  We pray that he will continue to serve for many more years with joy and faith.
